The career story of Steve Rothschild, author of The Non Nonprofit, perhaps warrants a book of its own. Rothschild rose to corporate success as the executive vice president of General Mills, a Fortune 100 company, only to then leave the corporate world and found Twin Cities Rise! (using his own money). Rise! works to combat inner city poverty in the Minneapolis area by providing long term job training to low-income adults.

Rothschild possesses a keen sense for the modern challenges faced by nonprofits and social enterprises.
Through the story of Rise!, as well as through case-studies of other inventive social organizations, Rothchild identifies seven key principles for long-term success, applicable to any social venture looking to boost impact:

1. Have a clear and appropriate purpose
2. Measure what counts
3. Be market driven
4. Create mutual accountability
5. Support personal empowerment
6. Create economic value form social benefit
7. Be learning driven

The Non Nonprofit is required reading for anyone involved in running or supporting a nonprofit organization as well as a useful guide for leaders in almost any endeavor.

Steve Rothschild had a legendary career as a senior executive at General Mills before leaving the private sector to create a visionary program for addressing generational poverty - Twin Cities Rise! In this book, Rothschild offers a few hints into the secrets of his private sector success while sharing his vision for creating more relevant and successful nonprofits.

Often undercapitalized and reliant on short term and uncertain funding sources, how can nonprofits possibly be expected to make a meaningful difference in facing the pervasive problems that face our society? The answer, as persuasively argued in this book, is to live by seven key principles: (1) Have a clear and appropriate purpose; (2) measure what counts; (3) be market driven; (4) create mutual accountability; (5) support personal empowerment; (6) create economic value from social benefit; and (7) be learning driven.

This book presents a clear and compelling overview of the seven principles that are key to being a successful nonprofit. Some of these are familiar (e.g. the need for a clear purpose), but all are important and Steve's perspective is refreshingly straightforward. The more novel principles concerning the role of personal empowerment and new approaches to financing nonprofits are the book's most important contribution. Do yourself the favor of reading this book; it will challenge your conception of nonprofits, and force you to think about how you can be more effectively involved in them.

A Excellant Source for Positive Inspiration!

This book by Dr.Schuller, was one of the best books that I have read. After reading the book, it changed my way of thinking. I was a negative thinker. I highly recomend it to anyone. I Thank God for Dr.Schuller and all of his books! I especially like Dr.Schullers testimonies. He didn't just write the words, he has lived them and has examples of other people. Thank You Dr.Schuller for writting this. It really helped me.

bestseller that was read by the author . . . it describes how to tap into
your own dynamic divine energy by following these eight steps that
are designed to lead to personal success:

Possibilities must be weighed,
Then priorities must be swayed,

And commitments must be made.

The price must be paid,
The timing may be delayed,

Schuller bases much of what he write about on what he calls Possibility

Rented this book last semester after seeing it was MUCH cheaper than my schools bookstore. It came on time and in perfect condition and I was able to send it back without problems. Because of this experience using the amazon rental system, I rented another book for another course and hope to have the same experience with the book!

This textbook has everything you need to know about psychology. A perfect introductory book into the subject of psychology with a writing style that is easy to understand; it also has a review section for each chapter to help you remember the main points, which helps when you have to study for exams. It makes psychology a lot more simple, making it easier for you too fully understand some of the complicated areas of psychology. It is also a good psychology reference book. I used this for my psychology class, I liked it so much I kept it instead of trading it in at the end of the semester. By the time you read this review there will probably up to a later edition, but I'm sure they will also be just as good as this edition; good series.

Fiona French studied Art Education at Croydon College of Art and went on to work as Bridget Riley's assistant. In 1986 she won the Kate Greenaway Medal for Snow White in New York. In 1992 her first book for Frances Lincoln, Anancy and Mr Dry-Bone was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and chosen as a Children's Book of the Year. Pepi and the Secret Names (written by Jill Paton Walsh), was one of Child Education's Best Story Books of 1994 and shortlisted for the 1995 Children's Book Award. She is renowned for her distinctively sharp and colourful illustrations. Her other books for Frances Lincoln are Paradise, Bethlehem and Canticle of the Sun; The Smallest Samurai, Glass Garden, Jamil's Clever Cat, Lord of the Animals and Pepi and the Secret Names.

I assume you are buying this because a music teacher requested that you do so, for yourself or a family member. It's a pretty tough book but I was ready for a community orchestra experience by the time I got through it. Lots of position changes and some beautiful Renaissance music that was new to me. Hard but doable. Arrived in very good shape. Good luck!
